Recommended Books
The Killer Angels  by: Shaara, Michael
The Battle of Gettysburg was fought for two dreams-- freedom, and a way of life. Memories, promises, and love were carried into the battle but what fell was shattered futures, forgotten innocence, and crippled beauty.
The Twelfth Planet  by: Sitchin, Zecharia
Over the years, startling evidence has been unearthed revealing the existence of a superior race of beings who once inhabited our world. These travelers from the stars arrived eons ago, and planted the genetic seed that would ultimately blossom into a remarkable species--the human being. The product of 30 years of research, this book argues that humanity sprang from extraterrestrial forebears.
Three Men in a Boat  by: Jerome, Jerome K.
Jerome K. Jerome has the uncanny ability to bring everyday events which took place over a hundred years ago to life. Even though the events described in this book take place in the 1880's (when they were written), you are made to feel as though the author is contemporary with today's society. This is a rare gift, hard to find among even the best of writers. Even the writer's great sense of humor has managed to survive over 110 years of cultural change, and this book remains one of the funniest literary works around.
Winning Everyday by: Holtz, Lou
Following a phenomenal coaching career at Notre Dame, Lou Holtz has become one of the country's most sought-after motivational speakers. In "Winning Everyday", he presents his winning philosophy for finding success in business and in life.
Recruiting Love by: Dunham, Alison Blackman.  The relationship book of the year! Here's why:
We believe that there is someone special for every person and that everyone wants satisfying, lasting relationships. Our book, RECRUITING LOVE: USING BUSINESS SKILLS YOU HAVE TO FIND THE LOVE YOU WANT, shows you how to create happiness and attract a true, lasting love into your life through an intelligent, effective plan tailored to your needs. We've made close analogies between a job search and a love search in RECRUITING LOVE because we believe that looking for a job and looking for love are very similar. Most adults already have the skills they need to get a job -so they also have the skills they need to find true love. We know that you are the best judge of what kind of relationship you want and we believe the only "rules" you should follow to reach your relationship goal are your own.
Understanding American Football  by: McCorduck, Edward Scott
This is a MUST BUY for anyone truly interested in American Football as a spectator, or for someone (like myself) who did not grow up in the USA and is now interested in the game.   This is a fascinating, detailed and most comprehensive book.

Five Go Down To The Sea  by: Enid Blyton
Having been born and spent most of my life in England I grew up with Enid Blyton, the creator of Noddy, The Secret Seven and The Famous Five, as well as the Adventure series (Island of Adventure, River of Adventure etc).   While written in the 40's and 50's, these children's stories are full of mystery, suspense and adventure, and are still very enjoyable today for children anywhere.
This book is just one of the Famous Five series, featuring brothers Julian and Dick, their cousins Georgina (likes to be called George) and Anne, and of course Timmy the dog.   These children always spend their holidays together, often at the seaside with their Scientist Uncle and their Aunt, in a place with a deserted island, ruined castle, wrecks, smugglers, burried treasure - these books have it all.
Don't deprive your child of a book series that can help to lure them away from the television and Nintendo and to open up their imagination.
